Coming Out Dancing is here for Coming Out Day 2018.
JAZ ARTS Hip Hop Troupe is the driving force behind #comingOUTdancing, a new campaign to promote wellbeing amongst LGBTQ+ youth in America.
Our campaign is a response to the recent tragic death of 9 year-old Jamel Myles.
#comingOUTdancing is a creative and positive spin on the idea of ‘coming out fighting’, but with the same goal. We are showing the world that no young person should have to feel afraid, that we are proud of who we are and that we are here to support and champion other young LGBT+ people through participation in the arts. We want to inspire LGBTQ people and their families to join the campaign and celebrate their identity through movement and dance.
Our campaign also inspires allies to step forward - as an opportunity for parents / guardians / peers / mentors / teachers / influencers and anybody else who has direct or indirect contact with youth within LGBTQ+ community. It gives those with the power to empower others the opportunity to become better educated, have greater empathy, to affect positive change in society. Our work also aims to promote a strong sense of wellbeing amongst young people by showcasing the importance of positive role models to vulnerable and marginalized communities.
Help us dance our way to our #comingOUTdancing queen Ellen Degeneres! Get involved and let’s see if we make it to her studio!

RAISING MONEY FOR THE TREVOR PROJECT
As well as awareness raising, we are raising funds for The Trevor Project, a nationwide organization providing resources and support for LGBTQ+ youth in America. Can you help?
UPDATE: On December 1st 2018, less than two months after we launched #comingOUTdancing we beat our campaign fundraising goal of $1,000 in support of The Trevor Project's life saving mission. Our current total is $1,114 and counting. We hope to continue to inspire positive change and encourage further donations to improve the lives of LGBTQ+ youth.
